Talks
Leadership opportunities and guest speaking
Annual Guest Speaker at the Aspiring Doctors Club, American International School-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Every year since I started medical school in 2018, I give a talk to students at my high school about the ins and outs of medical school, requirements, my progress, and what I would advise students to do/do differently. The highlight of my experience is being able to get to know the students who are in the position I was once in and getting to know such bright and intelligent individuals share their thoughts, worries, and experiences regarding the application process and deciding on majors.
Speaker - 'POD Talk
Self-Development Team, Growth & Development Committee, Alfaisal University Medical Students Association
POD, or 'Pathology of Diseases' is the first block/subject of Phase 2 of Medical School where students leave behind the 'How the body normally functions' phase and enter the 'This is everything that can go wrong in our body' phase. POD tends to be a long and difficult block for many medical students because of the amount of new information they encounter. Thus usually seek advice on how to optimally approach their preparation for it. Luckily, I was offered to give this talk this year on Zoom (covid precautions) and was able to share methods that helped me succeed with the 2nd year students attending. Workshop, Talk, and Clincal Skills Course Design and Execution
Co-Head of Future Planning and Self-Development Teams in Alfaisal University Medical Students Association
Planned, designed, and executed workshops teaching Alfaisal University students about effective study techniques, the importance of sleep, addressing burnout, CV/Personal Statement writing, and how to tackle Medical Board Exams from numerous countries including:
-
US
-
UK
-
Germany
-
KSA
-
Canada
This experience allowed me to understand and create a framework for workshop and Guest Talk planning, and communicating effectively with doctors and alumni effectively. The most rewarding part is seeing students utilize the advice they receive and watching their efforts come to fruition.
